Make-A-Wish

Make-A-Wish is one of Australia’s most trusted charities and part of the largest wish-granting organisation in the world. We partner with children with life threatening conditions, their families and medical teams to grant wishes as unique as the children who imagine them. At Make-A-Wish, our mission is to grant the wish of every eligible child as we believe these wishes complement treatment, build resilience and bring hope to these children and their families when they need it most.

The Role:

At Make-A-Wish, we have an exciting opportunity for a Volunteer Experience Coordinator to join the team in Melbourne to build the capability of our current and future volunteers through the design and delivery of a positive and consistent onboarding experience. In addition, this role will build strong relationships where volunteers and staff are empowered to lead and facilitate positive engagement within our volunteer programs.

Responsibilities of this Role

  • Developing training tools, resources and content to provide a thorough onboarding experience for all of our volunteers, enabling volunteers to engage in wish and fundraising activities in a timely manner
  • Building training content and tools which can be delivered at scale across our vast national network, incorporating staff and volunteers, and also making use of our Learning Management System, Litmos.
  • Developing strong and positive working relationships with other business units to provide support and coaching to enable them to successfully work with and understand volunteers.
  • Designing and reviewing programs within specific business areas to ensure that they meet our risk and compliance needs.
  • Leading our Volunteer Recognition Program to create unique and meaningful ways to understand and recognise the achievements of our volunteers.
  • Contributing to the continuous improvement of our existing and future volunteer programs.
  • Reporting to track and identify program health and impact, as well as to inform future action plans.
  • Working collaboratively with the Volunteer Programs team to grow, support, develop and empower our growing volunteer programs across Australia.
  • Providing general support to our volunteers and promoting a positive volunteering culture at Make-A-Wish.

About You:

  • Background and experience in Learning & Development (required)
  • Tertiary qualifications (desired)
  • Exceptional communication and influencing skills, both written and verbal
  • Strong stakeholder management experience
  • Project management experience
  • Experience in customer service and support
  • Resourceful and creative, with a solutions-focused approach
  • Critical thinking and strong attention to detail
  • Experience using Litmos or other LMS
  • A people-person who thrives in a collaborative working environment
  • Someone excited to be part of growing our volunteer network so that we can grant more wishes!

In return for your passion, positivity and enthusiasm, you will be part of a high performing team who are highly engaged and work tirelessly to help make a life changing difference to seriously ill children.

What we can offer you

  • An awesome opportunity for someone wanting to utilise their skills, as well as wanting to follow their passion for working with volunteers
  • Competitive salary and salary packaging on offer
  • The opportunity to make a positive impact on the lives of critically ill children and see the difference you make everyday
  • A flexible and supportive workplace with excellent work-life balance
