  • SCHCADS Level 3 starting at $30.34 per hour (casual rate is $37.93 per hour). Please note that these positions involve shift work including evenings, sleepovers and weekends.

MacKillop Family Services has implemented Intensive Therapeutic Care (ITC) Services in Royalla, Queanbeyan NSW and expanding to Canberra to support young people with high and complex needs. The ITC services will provide pro-active therapeutic care and have a strong focus on healing from trauma, providing an alternative to long term residential care with a broader range of placement options for young people to achieve positive outcomes in education, mental and physical health including permanency in their lives.

Suitable candidates will have experience working with children, young people and their families who have a history of complex or intergenerational trauma, abuse and neglect.

Minimum qualification requirements for this position is a Diploma of Youth Work, Community Services or equivalent, however staff currently employed in residential care will have a transition period to gain the minimum qualifications.

Selection Criteria:

The successful applicant will have:

  • Minimum qualification requirements for this position is a Diploma of Youth Work, Community Services or equivalent;
  • New staff joining must have the minimum qualifications;
  • Existing staff have a transition period to gain the minimum qualifications;
  • Staff with experience may be eligible to apply for RPL;
  • Aboriginal staff - a qualification is desirable but experience and willingness; to participate in training is essential;
  • Demonstrated skills and experience in youth services, residential care or supported accommodation;
  • Knowledge and understanding of Aboriginal culture and values and an awareness of the current issues faced by Aboriginal children, young people and their families;
  • Demonstrated experience working therapeutically with children and young people who have experience significant challenges and trauma;
  • Demonstrated ability to relate to and work with young people with social, emotional and behavioural difficulties and who have experienced significant trauma;
  • Demonstrated ability to implement case plan goals for young people with challenging behaviours;
  • Demonstrated experience working effectively within a team;
  • Experience and understanding of WH&S issues in the workplace;
  • Good written and verbal communication skills and ability to use Microsoft Office including Outlook and Word
