About the role:

The Coordinator is an integral part of the success of our Residential Care program in Warrnambool, and is responsible for overseeing and supervising all Residential Care House Supervisors and supporting them to lead successful Residential Care homes. The Coordinator is responsible for the leadership, supervision, oversight and standards of care and case management of the Residential houses along with overseeing the specific day to day provision of high-quality residential care based on a therapeutic and trauma informed model of care.

Reporting to the Area Manager, this is a permanent full-time ongoing position, primarily based out of our Lava St office. The Coordinator will be on the road a lot providing on the ground support to team members, and as such travel is an essential part of the position.

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Supervise, coach, develop and support residential care staff, House Supervisors, and other direct reports to ensure that service objectives are met.
  • In conjunction with the Team Leaders and the Case Manager, develop, implement and monitor house and individual programs to meet the children/young people’s personal, social, educational and case planning needs.
  • Manage placement referrals and make decisions regarding the acceptance of children or young people into the Residential Care Program, except in Therapeutic Care where a Panel makes decisions on referrals.
  • Liaise with Department of Health & Human Services (DHHS) in relation to case-related matters i.e., placement referrals, case reviews and professionals’ meetings.
  • Development of a supportive team environment.
  • Active participation as a member of the Program Leadership Group.
  • Development of practice processes and systems, specific to the work area, in liaison with the Manager and/or Leadership Group.
  • Provision of assistance to the Area Manager in the coordination of service provision.
  • Provide timely advice to the Area Manager regarding any client complaints, staff matters, or other information that may present “political or practice risk” to the program.

About you:

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in Social Work or a related discipline
  • Demonstrated experience in child protection, child welfare practice or a related field
  • Proven leadership skills and abilities in the supervision of staff
  • Experience in case management of residential services
  • Demonstrated assessment skills and the ability to utilise these in a range of settings
  • Well-developed interpersonal and communication skills

You must have a:

  • Valid and current Driver’s Licence;
  • Satisfactory Criminal History Check;
  • Valid Working with Children Check;
  • Valid and current NDIS Workers Screening Check or can provide proof of application up to 31 July 2021.
