About the role

The Education Officer is integral in helping young people in the Intensive Therapeutic Transitional Care program (ITTC) to access and/or remain in education.

Using a diverse range of strategies and education options that will cater for the varied learning styles of individuals, and in conjunction with providing support and guidance throughout each young person’s educational journey, the Education Officer will assist clients to achieve better quality education outcomes, assessing and recording these at regular intervals with the ultimate aim of success in their current educational setting or reintegration into an appropriate educational or vocational setting.

This is an ongoing Part Time opportunity based in Lismore NSW as part of the ​PSP Intensive Therapeutic Care (ITC) program and reports to Coordinator ITC Casework.

Key Selection Criteria:

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • A knowledge and understanding of Aboriginal culture and values and an awareness of the current issues faced by Aboriginal children, young people and their families
  • Relevant work experience and degree qualification in the field of education;
  • Demonstrated ability and experience in providing high quality educational experiences to young people with multiple and complex needs, including those marginalised from school and society through trauma, abuse and neglect;
  • Experience in developing, implementing and reviewing innovative education programs;
