Leichhardt Women's Community Health Centre (LWCHC) has been delivering quality health services to improve the lives of women in Sydney for 48 years. It provides integrated health care, counselling and health education across Sydney’s inner west and south west suburbs, and has a speciality state-wide counselling service.
Its focus is the provision of trauma-informed, affordable services that are sensitive to the needs of women with complex health issues or recovering from violence. We concentrate on improving the health of women experiencing disadvantage and at risk of poorer health outcomes by utilising a partnership approach and the social determinants of health.
LWCHC operates from a feminist perspective, under a social model of health where service provision is based on principles of social justice and an understanding of a gendered approach to health.
Services comprise GP and women’s health nurse clinics, physiotherapy, complementary therapies, counselling and health education, and partnerships enable legal advice, psychology and psychiatry clinics. Sydney Local Health District and Medicare provide the main sources of funding, while partnership agreements, fee for service and bequests extend service delivery.
We are an Incorporated Association and registered with the Australian Charities and Not-for-profits Commission (ACNC) as a charity with Public Benevolent Institution status.
LWCHC is seeking applications from suitably qualified and experienced applicants for the position of Manager four or five days a week.
The Manager is responsible for providing leadership and strategic direction for the organisation under the guidance of the Board. Key areas of responsibility include day to day management of LWCHC operations, human resource management, financial management, risk management, service promotion, public accountability and partnerships, and Work Health and Safety.
Classification is the Health Professionals and Support Services Award, Level 4; pay point to be negotiated depending on qualifications and experience. LWCHC offers generous above award conditions including two weeks Christmas closure at ordinary rates and access to salary packaging options.
