  • Salary Range: $65,000 - $75,000 base depending on experience

We are on the search for a passionate Advocacy and Activism Executive to join our Brand team at LUSH!

Main Purpose

As the Advocacy and Activism Executive, your purpose is to build and strengthen the impact and giving efforts of Lush Australia and New Zealand (ANZ). As someone who lives and breathes Lush’ values and ethics, you will help contribute towards our mission: Leaving the world Lusher than we found it. You will be in charge of the various giving streams which include Charity Pot and Re:Fund, making sure these reach and support NGOs and grassroots groups that are set to make a real difference.

Core Responsibilities

  • Lead impactful ethical campaigns and support on campaign strategy to drive social change within environmental justice, human rights and animal welfare, across ANZ.
  • In conjunction with Management, develop and own a long term ethical campaigning strategy for the business with an always-on plan in line with the goals and aligned to business mission.
  • Analyse core business ethics practices and make recommendations for change to ensure best practice is happening, in collaboration with relevant departments and in alignment with the global team.
  • Lead and manage the Charity Pot program and partnerships to support small, grassroots organisations in ANZ that are working on the root cause of issues and creating long-term sustainable change.
  • Promote, manage and process Charity Pot applications and advise the business on granting funding to charities across both countries, ensuring healthy Charity Pot cashflow.
  • Work on outreach and building sustainable relationships with local grassroots organisations, gaining understanding of where impact is needed the most, with a focus on indigenous groups in Australia & Aotearoa.
  • In collaboration with logistics, support the recycling programs for the business that aid in more ethical recycling practices of plastics.
  • Support the business in product donations across manufacturing and retail.
  • Report and measure the impacts of our ethical work, campaigns, charitable giving, BIB and product donations, in order to make strategic decisions on ways forward.

Our Perfect Match

  • Someone with at least 3 years experience in campaign management (creation, development and rollout).
  • Experience with running public events and campaigns stunts.
  • Has experience working with grassroots organising, NGOs, non-profits and campaigning groups or activists, with passion for Indigenous justice in Australia & Aotearoa.
  • Strong understanding of how to use a retail business to create social, political and environmental change.
  • Utilises cultural sensitivity and awareness to create or support campaign communications that respects social and/or political context of the campaigns.
  • Ability to improve current processes to increase efficiency. Ie in the Charity Pot program.
  • A structured approach, and great organisational skills, to be able to break down complexity, multitask and push projects through the line.
  • Broad and intersectional understanding and up to date knowledge of ethical issues within the areas of environmental justice, human rights and animal welfare.
  • An excellent relationship builder.
  • A passionate brand advocate.
  • A person with a strong moral compass passionate about animals, humans and the environment.
