Lock the Gate Alliance (lockthegate.org.au) is a national grassroots organisation made up of over 120,000 supporters and more than 140 local groups who are concerned about unsafe coal and gas mining.
Our vision is of healthy, empowered communities which have fair, democratic processes available to them to protect their land and water and deliver sustainable solutions to food and energy needs. We are a grassroots organisation with a broad base of support across the country.
Lock the Gate is a warm and down-to-earth workplace. Everyone on the team pitches in to achieve our mission – protecting people and landscapes from the impacts of coal and unconventional gas mining. Our communications team supports regional and state teams with vivid, sincere and unpretentious words, images and videos in support of the passionate and committed local communities they work with. It’s a fast-paced but supportive organisation with a lot of joy.
We’re looking for someone that shares our values and can bring lucid writing, creative ideas and communications leadership to our national efforts. We need someone who has strong people and project management skills, who can utilise systems to ensure delivery of high quality content for multiple campaigns in a timely manner.
We are after someone who knows how to develop communication strategies, and how to guide and support our teams to put them into action. We need someone with high standards of verbal and written communication who understands the impact of tone and register and wants to use their skills to help local communities tackle the biggest threats and most exciting opportunities in the country, from preventing harmful fracking in the Kimberley to promoting the diversification of the Hunter Valley.
If you are a highly skilled, experienced, creative, responsive and conscientious person who enjoys working with folks with varied backgrounds and experiences and tackling problems with cooperation, you will love working with Lock the Gate. You will be an integral part of our Communications team and will work closely with other Coordinators across the country to develop strategy and content.
We are flexible as to where this role will be based in Australia and will consider applicants from along the Eastern seaboard. The role will be work from home and the successful applicant will need good quality and reliable communication links.
