Our North Melbourne hospital and clinic provides a broad range of veterinary and emergency services, and our Campbellfield Adoption Centre is a vet clinic and shelter. About the role

Reporting to the Head of Media and Digital Content, you will play a key role in supporting our traditional media and social media strategy to exponentially boost public interest and foster real engagement within our pet-loving community, clients, donors and supporters.

About You

It is essential that you are an experienced social media operator with at least two consecutive years in a similar role. You will be used to sourcing, developing, writing and producing highly engaging socials that resonate with target audiences and result in high levels of engagement. You will also be very familiar with what works within traditional media: Print, radio and broadcast.

You will have experience of researching and collecting hard evidence in support of emerging topics that are of media interest. A formal qualification in communications or journalism will be well regarded. Experience working in the not-for profit sector will be a bonus.

You will also have:

  • Strong problem solving and critical reasoning skills
  • A calm attitude under pressure and ability to effectively manage a busy workload
  • Creative flair and strong written storytelling skills
  • Demonstrated understanding of organic social media and digital content creation and how to keep ahead of shifting algorithms and changes in platforms

Key responsibilities

Media Support

  • Supporting the establishment and maintenance of strong media relations, ensuring timely responses to enquiries and managing pre- and on-site logistics for engagements, often working to tight last-minute deadlines
  • Taking the lead on sourcing evidence, data and extra background from both internal and external sources in support of engaging media content
  • Assisting in the ongoing identification and stewardship of internal media talent and subject experts
  • Coordinating media engagement activities, including following up on media releases, and general on the day support to media briefings
  • Assisting in managing relationships with key media contacts and stakeholders
  • Producing B-roll content under the direction of the Head of Media and Digital Content

Social Media Production

  • Sourcing and creating engaging and effective social media content that is wholly representative of the Hospital and its work.
  • Managing scheduling, publishing and measurement/reporting of the same
  • Assisting with and contributing to the creation and execution of social media campaigns and promotions
  • Assisting in recruiting influencers and media ambassadors to develop content and partnerships
  • Providing additional support to fundraising in terms of digital platforms expertise and assisting with the uploading of eDMs and similar, if and when needed
