WSMRC is seeking an experienced youth focussed Caseworker to work with young people from newly arrived migrant and refugee backgrounds in South West Sydney. The position is a SCHADS 4 and will be based between our Liverpool and Campbelltown Offices 4 days per week (0.8 FTE).
This includes:
- providing office based and outreach casework services to young people from CALD and refugee backgrounds and, where relevant, their families.
- providing casework and information/referral support to WSMRC clients as needed and as directed by the Leadership Team
- providing outreach support at local high schools for identified refugee and migrant young people
- Liaising, consulting and establishing a professional working relationship with CALD and refugee young people and service providers to identify and assess client needs, and develop appropriate projects to address those needs.
- Developing, facilitating and delivering activities for refugee and migrant young people in accordance with work programs, in alignment with key performance indicators
- Actively participate in relevant forums and networks to raise awareness of issues affecting refugee young people
Essential Criteria:
- Tertiary qualification and/ or equivalent experience in youth work, social work, community development or related field
- Strong ability to engage young people with complex needs and experience working with vulnerable young people individually and in group settings
- Demonstrated experience providing casework support, including developing case plans, referral pathways, and compliance with mandatory reporting obligations
- An understanding of both the settlement and youth service sectors including knowledge of youth specific support services and referral pathways
- High standard of interpersonal skills including effective communication and written presentation and reporting skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Demonstrated experience using Microsoft 365 and client database systems.
- Current Working with Children’s Check and Police Clearance
