Prison Program Facilitator

Lives Lived Well

At Lives Lived Well, we've been treating and supporting people whose lives are affected by alcohol and other drugs for over 50 years. We also support people with mental health and gambling concerns and those transitioning from correctional centres. We're growing fast and building a reputation as a trusted, innovative provider, focused on clinical excellence… and we'd love you to be part of it.

If you have compassion, the ability to work without judgment and share our belief in recovery, then join us and open up your career in human services.

Your opportunity

In a small Reclaim team of 2, you will be working as part of our wider Brisbane South team, delivering Drug and Alcohol psychoeducation groups to prisoners at the Arthur Gorrie Correctional Centre. This is a highly structured program, which will require you to possess strong collaboration and interpersonal skills.

This program has been fully established and has been embedded on evidence-based practices.

What does this mean?

This is a role that has a big impact. You'll walk alongside our clients, changing their lives for the better as they make changes to their lives to break the cycle of incarceration. You'll support clients to live healthy by providing Drug and Alcohol harm minimisation strategies and education. This is a part-time role, working 22.8 hours a week.

In terms of the Brisbane South culture, they are a team of passionate, empathetic and knowledgeable clinicians who are dedicated to serving our communities' most vulnerable. The practice and actions of our people are strongly embedded within our values, and our clinician's driving belief is "with the right support people can change their lives."

You'll know that you're leaving a positive wake when:

  • You can ensure the program meets the contractual obligations set out by funders.
  • You can navigate the challenges of new situations, create solutions and adapt on the spot.
  • You can work both autonomously and work collaboratively within a small team.

What you'll bring

In terms of the role itself, you're confident in using computer applications, including Microsoft Outlook and excel, and you're able to complete a variety of administrative duties from completing exit reports to uploading information to our Client Relationship Management system, and can assist in providing qualitative data to the Team Leader concerning operational areas and assist with quarterly reporting.

  • You will need to know how to set and maintain good boundaries with clients, as this can be a challenging environment due to its restrictive nature.
  • You will be comfortable working in a prison setting.
  • You can be flexible and navigate the unexpected.
  • You will be able to think on your feet, problem-solve and handle pressure.
  • You will have a genuine desire to support people in making a positive difference to their lives.
  • You will be reliable, resilient, persistent and non-judgmental.

You'll also need some technical skills and experience:

  • Bachelor in social work, human services, psychology, criminology or related discipline.
  • A clinician interested in working within a correctional setting.
  • Previous experience working in the AOD field.
  • Previous experience working with offenders (desirable).

And importantly, you'll live and breathe our values, which means:

  • You are humble, human and full of hope.
  • You show up and share.
  • You ask: Why not? And what's next?
  • You leave a positive wake.

We believe that, through these values, we do our best work - for each other, for clients, and for the communities we work in. And it's a promise we make to you about the kind of experience you will have working for us.

Why work for Lives Lived Well?

It's about people, purpose, impact and growth.

We think you'll love working with our talented people across services that are as diverse as the communities we work in. We've grown significantly, with no plans of slowing down.… giving you a real opportunity to go further!

At Lives Lived Well, you can:

  • Grow as a person and as a professional, extending your knowledge and skills beyond the norm.
  • Be trusted with autonomy in a supportive, respectful environment.
  • Make a lasting difference - on clients, the community and a team that cares as much as you.

But it's more than that.

You'll join a curious team that thinks differently and seeks new ways. We look to the evidence. And when we reach "better", we ask, "What's next?" Which means you'll need to be comfortable with change - you'll enjoy variety, the agility, and the opportunity to achieve more, faster.

And while you support others, we'll support you, including access to a range of training opportunities and wellness activities along with the opportunity to explore other careers at Lives Lived Well.
