About the role
Liver Foundation has been funded to establish Australia’s first tele-support service for people with primary liver cancer and others affected (partners, family, friends, regional & remote primary health practitioners). The Clinical Nurse Specialist will work with the Nurse Clinical Lead and other project staff to ensure the effective implementation of the service.
Liver Foundation is seeking a clinical nurse with hepatology experience, who also has experience in public health and community engagement to join our tele-support team.
Working with our Nurse Clinical Lead, your role will be essential in promotion of the service and outreach to patients, carers and health care professionals around Australia.
With mentorship from the Nurse Clinical Lead, you will also provide information and support via phone, email and online support groups to people affected by primary liver cancer and their loved ones, as well as health care professionals and people affected by advanced liver disease.
This is a unique opportunity for a skilled clinician to work remotely with a supportive team providing evidence-based information and support, referral information and education via tele support to people living with primary liver cancer, their carers and families and other health care professionals.

Key Selection Criteria
We are looking for a clinical nurse with hepatology experience, who also has experience in public health and community outreach, who is passionate about patient care in all forms. This role is a unique opportunity to provide invaluable support and education to people all over Australia with primary liver cancer and advanced liver disease.
- Current registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) as a Registered Nurse.
- Minimum of 5 years public health/community outreach nursing experience.
- Hepatology and liver cancer nursing experience highly desirable.
- Knowledge of primary liver cancer, liver disease and the health needs of people affected by both liver disease and liver cancer.
- Ability to work autonomously and within a collaborative team environment, with proven time management and organisational skills.
- Experience in working with the following groups:
- People with a life-threatening illness related to liver disease or liver cancer;
- People from diverse cultural backgrounds, including the use of interpreters;
- Rural and remote communities;
- Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples.
- Demonstrated cultural sensitivity.
- Demonstrated experience in providing health related education and support to patients and their loved ones.
- Demonstrated experience in public health and community outreach, for example arranging in-services and meetings of key stakeholders.
- Demonstrated commitment to excellence in nursing practice and quality care.
- Demonstrated experience in data collection and management, including proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including written and verbal skills.
- Ability to travel within Australia.
