We're Hiring: 2 Family Engagement and Support Educators (Casual Positions)

  • Location: Adelaide, South Australia
  • Up to 25 hours per week. Immediate Start. Miscellaneous Award Level 4

At Little Petal, we do things differently. We deliver in-home, family-centred support for some of the most vulnerable individuals and families in our community. Our practice is trauma-informed, strength-based, client-led, and culturally responsive because we believe every person deserves access to high-quality, tailored support that meets them where they are.

This role forms part of our Family Engagement and Support Educator (FESE) Program, which delivers a layered intensity of supports to best cater to the holistic needs of individuals and families. The FESE Program sits within a broader service model that includes child and family capacity-building programs and Children’s Contact Support Services, all designed to strengthen family functioning and promote safety, development, and wellbeing.

We are currently seeking two people to become our next Family Engagement and Support Educators (FESE) to join our passionate, multidisciplinary team on a casual basis.

About the Role

You’ll support individuals and families in their homes and communities to strengthen relationships, build capacity, and create safer, more consistent environments that promote wellbeing and positive development. This could mean early morning starts, and after hour finish times.

You must be available to work your allocated hours consistently each week (up to 25 hours), with flexibility across mornings, afternoons, and occasional weekends.

What We Do

As Family Engagement and Support Educators, we deliver flexible, responsive, and hands-on support that is tailored to each family's circumstances. This may include:

  • Advocacy for individuals and families navigating complex systems
  • Attending professional meetings on behalf of, or alongside, the individual/family
  • Supporting the implementation of daily routines within the home and community
  • Assisting parents and carers to apply strategies recommended by allied health professionals including, Occupational Therapists and Positive Behaviour Specialist Practitioners.
  • Facilitating positive parent-child interactions and strengthening relationships
  • Providing practical parenting support, including modelling, coaching, and emotional regulation strategies
  • Referring to and collaborating with other services to bolster supports around the family
  • Supporting transitions into or between services (e.g. education, health, NDIS)
  • Promoting child safety, development, and wellbeing through strengths-based approaches
  • Maintaining accurate records and communicating effectively with the team and external stakeholders

You Must Have

  • A relevant qualification or experience in early childhood education and care, social work, community services, disability, or a related field
  • A current Working with Children Check
  • Current Responding to Risk of Harm, Abuse and Neglect Training
  • First Aid in Education and Care Setting
  • A valid driver’s licence and reliable, insured vehicle
  • Strong communication, organisational, and documentation skills
  • The ability to work independently while contributing to a connected, collaborative team
