Lighthouse Foundation provides homes and therapeutic care programs to children and young people impacted by long-term neglect, abuse and homelessness. Our focus is to create caring communities where kids can feel safe, form meaningful relationships and begin to heal from traumatic experiences. For the past 30 years, our proven Model of Care has successfully transformed the lives of over 1,000 young people using a range of evidence-based strategies. We now educate and support Foster Carers and Kinship Carers in the same way, so that they too can take care of some of Australia’s most vulnerable children.
This is a unique role, providing the opportunity to be part of Lighthouse Foundation’s new Kinship Care program in the Southern Metropolitan Area of Melbourne. At the centre of the Kinship Care Program is the Children’s Hub home, a central place of support and community connection for carers and children. It is a place where they can come together as a community, to receive therapeutic supports or respite care with trained therapeutic staff. The Hub acts as a ‘home away from home’ and creates a ‘village’ of extended support for each child, allowing them to develop positive, healthy attachments with adults who care about their safety and wellbeing. The Hub facilitates regular social activities for carers, families and local volunteers to connect, reflect and share their experiences together. Lighthouse believes this strong sense of community will help to improve the overall stability in placements, continuity in care, and gives kinship carers quality, tangible support they need to thrive. The Therapeutic Case Manager will locate at the Children’s Hub and provide therapeutic services and contracted case management to children and young people 0-17 years living in kinship care.
