ABOUT US

Lighthouse Foundation provides homes and therapeutic care programs to children and young people impacted by long-term neglect, abuse and homelessness. Our focus is to create caring communities where kids can feel safe, form meaningful relationships and begin to heal from traumatic experiences. For the past 30 years, our proven Model of Care has successfully transformed the lives of over 1,000 young people using a range of evidence-based strategies. We now educate and support Foster Carers in the same way, so that they too can take care of some of Australia’s most vulnerable children.

ABOUT THE ROLE

The purpose of this position is to lead community engagement across Lighthouse through Community Committees and Events. Lighthouse Foundation has been supported by a dedicated community of volunteers since we first began in 1991. Our committees are a crucial element of our model of care, providing real, tangible support to our homes and young people. Community Committees are groups of local community members, who volunteer to support the young people in a Lighthouse home local to them. The committee members share their skills, passions, and experience and send young people a powerful message, that they are worthy of someone else’s time. As part of this role, you will build close relationships with the committee Chairs, Members, Therapeutic Case Managers and Young People across all homes.

Working in a team that truly values connection, you will work alongside Lighthouse’s Community Engagement Coordinator and Project Coordinator. You’re responsible for coordinating the running of the committees, including recruitment of new members and chairs, supporting committee meetings and events as required. In addition, you will organise a variety of events to bring the Lighthouse community together and create spaces to foster meaningful connections between staff, young people and volunteers. In collaboration with other teams, you will have the opportunity to get involved with events such as the annual Lighthouse Camp, trips to the Zoo, and celebrations of cultural events.
