Life Without Barriers is a leading social purpose, not for profit organisation of 8,000 employees working in more than 500 communities across Australia. We support children, young people and families, people with disability, older people and people with mental illness. We work with people who are homeless and refugees and asylum seekers.
We want to employ people who reflect the diversity of our clients to ensure we can support each client's individual needs and wants. We encourage people of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander background and people with disability to apply.
As a key person in the life of an older person, you will be providing one on one support to our Aged Care and Veteran clients, assisting them to remain living independently at home and access the community through the provision of social support, personal care, transport and domestic assistance. This is a community based role with individual sessions ranging between 1 to 3 hours in length, across a rotating Monday – Sunday roster. Majority of sessions will operate between 6am - 10pm.
These positions will be required to work and travel within Canberra and the surrounding areas. Successful applicants will have flexibility across the required rotating roster above and willingness to travel for work throughout the day.
Successful candidates will be required to clear relevant state-probity checks including a National Criminal History Record Check and hold a current ACT Working With Vulnerable People Card.

For any enquiries, including persons with disability that require adjustments, contact Brooke Niass at [email protected] using the subject line: Support Worker, Aged Care - Canberra enquiry via EthicalJobs
Interviews for these roles will take place in May and June 2021. If you are successful to an interview, an invitation will be emailed to you where you will need to RSVP and select an event date and time.
Life Without Barriers supports the Royal Commission into violence, abuse, neglect and exploitation of people with disability. We believe people with disability need to be heard and for these experiences to influence how support services like ours are delivered. View our statement here (https://bit.ly/2GzZGWA)
