About the role
Opportunity for Psychologist/Social Worker to join our Child, Youth and Family team based in either Coffs Harbour, Alstonville or Newcastle as a Senior Permanency Practitioner.
Working in partnership with National, State and Area teams, the successful candidate will demonstrate a client centred approach and be responsible for providing advice, support and coaching to therapeutic staff within the Family Based Care (FBC) and Intensive Therapeutic Care program programs of Northern NSW in order to support best practice service delivery to and improve outcomes for all children and young people.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide professional supervision to Therapeutic Specialists in ITC
- Assist local multi-disciplinary care teams to be compliant with legislation, standards, contractual requirements and internal policy
- Provide advice to the LWB Child, Youth & Family Director as required including Positive Behaviour Planning and Restricted practices
- Provide local multi-disciplinary care teams with specialist advice on complex or sensitive cases, identifying risk, and support their decision making and learning
- Support the transfer of current research and practice initiatives by role modelling within local multi-disciplinary care teams
- Advise, liaise and consult with a range of internal and external stakeholders, regarding complex and sensitive matters
- Provide an environment free of abuse, harm and exploitation for people we support
Skills & Experience
- A tertiary qualification in Social Work or Psychology
- Current Drivers Licence
- Coaching experience, skills and knowledge in child protection, out of home care services, and/or family support and preservation
- Understanding of and experience in Positive Behaviour Planning and Restricted Practices in Family based Care and implementing evidence informed practice models
- Experience in providing professional development and leading professional group supervision
- Demonstrated commitment to work with people from diverse cultural backgrounds and experience working in a culturally sensitive manner with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and a willingness to work and train in culturally appropriate approaches
