About the role
The Practice Leaders will report to the Practice Hub Manager and will work in partnership with the Victorian Disability Accommodation Support (VDAS) operations team. The services are spread across three regional areas – North, South and East. You will support the operational teams to improve client outcomes by developing, driving and supporting the implementation of NDIS Quality and Safeguarding framework. You will also support the behavioural support team in the implementation of strategies to reduce restrictive practices.
In the role of Practice Leader, you will focus on delivering quality improvement initiatives, coaching and mentoring staff in best practice and preparing for NDIS transition.
These positions are being offered on a full-time contract period until December 2020.
Key responsibilities
- Work in partnership with service delivery teams to implement and promote best practice in service delivery
- Achieve positive outcomes for participants through best practice methodology
- Implement organisational continuous improvement plans and initiatives within the regions
- Provide input into the development of practice initiatives and translate these into practice
- In partnership with Area Management, ensure compliance with NDIS Quality and Safeguarding framework, relevant legislation, service standards and LWB policy and procedures
- Provide advice and practical assistance to Regional, Operation Managers and team members on the application and implementation of legislation and standards and liaise and interact with external stakeholder groups
- Provide training, on-the-job coaching and mentoring to staff, to assist with skill and practice development
- Report risks, poor practice and noncompliance with LWB policy and procedure and legislation
- Work cooperatively with the APO and Behavioural support team to share resources and facilitate consistency of practice across the state
- Support service user participation and engagement with evaluation, design and delivery of LWB services in line with our client engagement and participation framework
- Implement strategies to prepare for NDIS accreditation and licensing requirements
Required skills and experience
- Tertiary qualification in Human Services or Social Sciences
- Expert knowledge and experience in the assessment, planning, delivery and evaluation of client support services in one of the following sectors: Health, Disability Services, Aged Care Services or Mental Health
- Ability to demonstrate leadership within own area of expertise
- Demonstrated ability to develop and implement processes and systems to improve services
- Demonstrated ability to provide advice, support, coaching, mentoring and training to managers and staff
- High level ability to develop relationships and partnerships with managers and employees
- Effective time management and organisational skills
- Ability to use initiative and think laterally and strategically
- Demonstrated interpersonal skills, including the ability to build rapport
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to travel within designated area to ensure equitable support of Operational teams
Successful candidates will be required to clear probity checks including National Criminal History Record Check and Working with Children Check (where relevant to the role).
