What is the role?

Based in Newcastle, we have an opportunity for an individual to join the Lifestyle Solutions team in the capacity of Therapeutic Specialist. Lifestyle Solutions team is growing and seeks a passionate and experienced community service Therapeutic Specialist to work with our Clinical Services team.

As a Therapeutic Specialist, you will provide accountable and effective clinical leadership to staff; ensuring our customers receive quality clinical services and meet pre-determined performance measures established by management and the funding body. The Therapeutic Specialist will work alongside staff to ensure that they provide evidence based, positive behaviour supports and trauma informed services to assist them to develop positive behaviours and skills for community living.

You will be responsible for:

  • Design and supervise educational and functional supporting material for the effective application of Lifestyle Solutions Therapeutic Practice Framework
  • Undertake and report on clinical assessments of people we support
  • Provide therapeutic and clinical services to Children and Young People, caring staff, carers and families as required
  • Provide consultation to our team and other agencies in accordance to priorities
  • Contribute to the continuing education and professional development of Lifestyles Solutions

  • Post graduate qualifications in Psychology, Social Work, Social Sciences, Behavioural Sciences or relevant areas
  • Comprehensive knowledge and experience in working with Children & Young People and their families
  • Demonstrated knowledge in the development and implementation of behavioural intervention strategies, risk management strategies and skills development plans
  • Sound knowledge of Child Development, Attachment and Trauma theories and ability to assist and train others to understand the implications of these for the Children and Young People we support
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for consulting and collaborating both within and external to the agency including health professionals, other agencies and departments
  • Commitment to evidence-based practice

  • Knowledge and use of contemporary principles and models in relation to the provision of intervention services for children with disabilities and their families
  • A current Drivers Licence
