Remote / Work from Home
The Australasian Society of Lifestyle Medicine (ASLM) is a multidisciplinary society of medical doctors, allied health practitioners and health professionals, with a mission to improve the health Australians and New Zealanders through the promotion and advocacy of Lifestyle Medicine.
Lifestyle Medicine is both an evidence-based discipline, and a movement for change. ASLM advocates for innovation in clinical practice - incorporating lifestyle modification and supportive self-management, community programs and health policy, improving health literacy and health equity, social justice, and environmental sustainability. Areas of focus include the remission of early-stage type 2 diabetes, weight management, nutrition and physical activity for mental health, and the role of science and technology in bringing about this change.
In order to promote the clinical and public health application of Lifestyle Medicine, ASLM provides education and training, resources, innovation and interdisciplinary connection for health professionals as well as leads initiatives and projects that seek to improve the health and wellbeing of the broader community.
We are looking for a part time company bookkeeper/accountant to do more than just keep the books!
You will be doing the accounting for two related companies, both DGR1 health promotion charities, bank transactions, budgeting, financial and management reporting, statutory reporting and also managing our human resources processes and other policies and procedures.
The ideal candidate will be proficient in MYOB AccountRight and very familiar with all of the above. There is also the potential to be involved in a third company, a health tech startup social enterprise, crowd sourced equity funding and more.
While our small team of 8 used to work from our inner north Melbourne office before Covid, we are currently a remote team and likely to stay that way, so location is not so important, although candidates based in Melbourne would at least be able to meet with the team at our monthly in-person meetings. Otherwise, you'd be joining the meetings by Zoom or Teams.
This is not a senior role and does not require significant prior experience. We encourage recent accounting graduates or those with a strong understanding of bookkeeping, accounting and human resources principles to apply. The only non-negotiables are shown below.
The role could be equally be performed by someone more experienced who is looking for a part time cause-related role in an organisation trying to change the world.
