ABOUT US
The Launceston Community Legal Centre (LCLC) provides access to free legal services to vulnerable Tasmanians.
The Legal Literacy Volunteer Program (LLV) has been in place since 2011. It aims to improve document literacy and problem-solving in rural communities. Trained local volunteers work with local clients in their own communities to address issues BEFORE they require legal advice or intervention.
THE POSITION
The LLV Coordinator is responsible for the day to day operation of the program and assists the CEO in setting its strategic goals. Daily tasks will include;
- Recruiting, training, and supporting our local volunteers.
- Developing and maintaining strong connections with community networks, service providers, and other stakeholders within the greater Launceston and rural areas.
- Promoting LCLC legal services, LLV, and other associated education programs to members of the community including through digital media.
- Collect and collate relevant data, case studies and statistics in line with reporting requirements for funding bodies.
SELECTION CRITERIA
Essential
- Experience/knowledge of program or service delivery in the community sector.
- Demonstrate a high level of interpersonal skills including the ability to communicate, negotiate and liaise effectively with people from diverse backgrounds, and to operate effectively as a member of a small team.
- Demonstrate a high level of self-management skills including, an ability to work under one’s own initiative and with minimal supervision, the capacity to exercise sound judgment in decision-making, managing a range of different tasks simultaneously, and working in an environment subject to work pressures and change.
- Experience/knowledge of the local community sector and the ability to liaise with other service providers.
- Possess a high level of written and oral skills.
- Demonstrate an ability to work under one’s own initiative with minimal supervision.
- Possess a current driver’s license.
- Possess or willing to undergo current Police & Working with Vulnerable People Check.
Desirable
- Demonstrate knowledge of or the ability to acquire competence in maintaining social media platforms.
- Experience or qualifications in training and assessment.
- Experience /knowledge of working with volunteers.

LOCATION
The position is based in Launceston and involves regular travel to surrounding communities.
