The Law Society Northern Territory (Society) is a statutory body established pursuant to the Legal Profession Act 2006. The Society’s primary function is to regulate legal practice in the Northern Territory and thereby provide for the protection of consumers of legal services and the public generally. The Society also acts as the peak professional body for lawyers in the Northern territory and provides an important point of connection and engagement for the legal profession.

Management of the affairs of the Society is vested in a 16 member Council and the day-to-day management is carried out by a small Secretariat comprising the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and 8 regulatory and support staff.

An exciting opportunity has now arisen for an experienced manager with knowledge of legislation, regulations and the economic and political environments relating to legal services to fill the role of CEO. Based in Darwin, the ideal candidate will be tertiary qualified in an appropriate discipline, and have proven experience at a senior level (preferably in a legal environment) in leadership and management, strategic planning and financial and human resource management.

Candidates should be highly motivated, enjoy team work, be computer literate and have highly developed inter-personal, communication, public relations and presentation skills and the ability to work effectively with an elected President and Council.

A competitive salary package and contract will be negotiated.

Further information (including a copy of the Recruitment Package) is available from Mr Kelvin Strange, CEO, Law Society Northern Territory on 08 89815104.
