What you'll be doing

As an After-Hours Support Worker, you will have the ability to juggle competing demands in a crisis setting, working with people with significant issues requiring support - such as AOD, mental health, trauma, disability and homelessness. You will also maintain the effective running of the accommodation by maintaining the security and responding to critical incidents and breaches.

You will

  • Provide a comprehensive service to residents including crisis counselling, support and advocacy in accordance with case plans;
  • Monitor and manage the dynamics of the facility with the aim of providing an environment which is safe, peaceful and enjoyable for all;
  • Follow all handover procedures;
  • Respond to critical incidents and breaches in facility rules;
  • Participate as a member of the site team in the overall development, evaluation and improvement of the service to enable the provision of effective and efficient service delivery to clients, including attending relevant training and staff meetings and annual performance reviews.

Work Pattern includes:

Week 1: Tuesday 5pm-12am, Thursday 5pm-12am

Week 2: Thursday 5pm-12am, Friday 5pm-12am, Sunday 5pm-12am

Other skills and knowledge that we are looking for include:

  • Tertiary qualification and/or direct experience in the delivery of crisis and support services
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with clients and external services to achieve quality client outcomes
  • Understanding of homelessness and the issues affecting people experiencing homelessness
  • A positive teamwork approach as well as the ability work autonomously
