About the position

The Olga Tennison Autism Research Centre (OTARC), established in 2008, is Australia's first centre dedicated to autism research.

The Early Assessment and Diagnostic Clinic (EADC), funded by the Victorian Government, provides a comprehensive needs assessment for autism to facilitate access to early supports and services for very young children and their families.

The EADC aims to provide an affordable comprehensive needs assessment and differential diagnosis within a Neurodiversity Affirming practice model for families of children under 3 years of age.

Duties will include, but are not limited to:

  • Conducting developmental assessments for children between 0 and 3 years using a variety of tools (e.g. Bayley Scales of Infant and Toddler Development Vineland Adaptive Behaviour Scales -3rd Ed; Movement-ABC; Sensory assessments; Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule [ADOS-2] – Toddler, 1 and 2 Modules, Autism Diagnostic Interview-Revised).
  • Writing clinical reports based on the above assessments and clinical judgement.
  • Providing families with recommendations and referrals to suitable supports and services.
  • Supporting families through identification and diagnostic processes using neurodiversity affirming and evidence-based approaches.

Skills and Experience

To be considered for this position, you will have:

  • A commitment to Neurodiversity Affirming values and principles.
  • An undergraduate degree in Occupational Therapy with at least 4 years subsequent experience; or an equivalent alternate combination of relevant knowledge, training and/or experience.
  • Capacity to work collaboratively in small teams and a motivation to work directly with children and parents/care givers.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide occupational therapy services, including undertaking assessments with Neurodivergent children and providing feedback and counselling to families.
