KYDS Youth Development Service is a community-based organisation committed to the prevention and early intervention of young people’s mental health difficulties through the promotion of good psychological and emotional health.

With a focussed commitment to providing a holistic approach to mental health support, KYDS provides accessible counselling and mental health support to children, young people and their families across Northern Sydney and the Northern Beaches. In addition, KYDS works alongside the professional networks supporting families to bring about the best possible outcomes for the children and young people we are supporting.

the role

Reporting to the Clinical Lead, supported by Senior Clinicians, this essential role is responsible for the delivery of a range of counselling and mental health interventions to children, young people and families, including the provision of:

• Individual therapy to children/young people
• Parenting support, including group and structured parenting interventions
• Family-based interventions, including Family Therapy
• Therapeutic group programs
• Workshops and Programs in schools and community settings

Successful candidates will:

• Have received qualification as a Psychologist, Social Worker, Counsellor (Lvl 3), Family Therapist or Play Therapist
• Be passionate about working with children, young people and families
• Be team players who want to work in a help seeking and help offering environment
• Enjoy working creatively and innovatively to improve mental health outcomes for our clients
• Have experience/want to develop their skills in working collaboratively with the professional network
• Have excellent verbal and written communication
• Be able to work autonomously and manage clients presenting with a range of challenges and levels of psychological distress
• Have a high level of computer literacy and proficient in Microsoft Office applications
