We are seeking an Administrative Assistant to join our team in West End, Brisbane. This permanent part-time position offers flexible hours, ranging from 16-21 hours per week over 2 or 3 days. Kurilpa currently pays above the relevant award for permanent full-time and part-time employees. The salary range for this position for the 2022-23 financial year is based on the Clerks Award, depending on qualifications and experience, plus superannuation contributions of 11% of your annual salary.
Kurilpa has 62 places in four rooms and cares for around 120 children each week. All Kurilpa rooms implement a program that is play-based and will foster each child’s development by providing a diverse range of activities in indoor and outdoor environments. Kurilpa’s kitchen has pride of place in the centre and provides nutritious vegetarian meals to the children and staff every day.

As an Administration Assistant, you will need to:
- Prepare all statements for families and monitor financial accounts and payments, as well as maintaining the Bond payments register.
- Maintain administrative/financial records of books and related matters. Sending all invoices and statements to the bookkeeper weekly, maintaining an appropriate recordkeeping and filing system. Reconciliation of fundraising money.
- Support the centre Directors to achieve key business objectives
- Provide a warm welcome to families in the centre, online, and on the phone
- High level written and interpersonal skills with demonstrated ability to engage in effective relationships with a range of stakeholders including families, staff, management committees (or equivalent), and the wider community to present a positive image of the centre.
- Perform key business tasks such as maintaining family accounts, correspondence, filing, and budgets
- Build and maintain strong, positive relationships with children, families and staff
- Support a culture of reflective practice and ongoing continuous improvement
- Contribute to a professional and positive work culture
- An ability to multi-task and prioritise your work while remaining efficient and proactive

- A certificate III in Administration or similar relevant experience.
- Prior experience in a childcare centre or the early education sector is highly advantageous
- Skills and knowledge of Xplor or equivalent software is highly advantageous
- Current Working with Children Blue Care (or Exemption Card)
- Full Covid-19 Vaccination
- Current First Aid/CPR/Asthma/Anaphylaxis certification is highly desirable
The position reports to the centre’s Director, who provides guidance and direction in the delivery of the program and is responsible for overseeing the successful operation of the centre and implementing the strategic direction set by the management committee.
