This position is a six-month locum position of 30.4 (four days) per week; with a possibility of extension. This position is paid as per the SCHCADS award schedule C – Pay level 2.1 to 2.4 (dependent on qualifications and experience in sector) with Salary Sacrifice available.

About Us

Koongoora Inc is an incorporated, not-for-profit, non-government Community organisation that receives funding from the Department of Families, Seniors, Disability Services and Child Safety to provide crisis, short term, supported accommodation for women and children escaping Domestic and Family violence.

The organisation works from a framework that incorporates Feminist and Social Justice Principles providing high quality services which are culturally inclusive, non-judgemental, respectful, client focused, and strength based.

Our mission is to support women and children to escape Domestic and Family Violence, to experience a safe and secure environment, and to feel validated and empowered in making informed choices for their future direction.

The Domestic and Family Violence Case Worker position:

  • Provides assistance to women and children accessing the refuge.
  • Works within a Case Management, Strengths Based framework.
  • Contributes to the general empowerment of women and her children while assisting them to make informed decisions.
  • Provides emotional and practical support within a safe environment.
  • Provides basic information and education on women’s rights and options, and Domestic Violence and its impacts.
  • Participate in the maintenance of a client focused, accountable and effective organisation, which reflects its values and philosophy in its operations.

The D&F Violence Case Worker is required to work within a feminist framework as a member of a team, supporting and empowering women and their children who are in crisis as a result of domestic violence.

Although we have a specifically designated Child & Family Case Worker, all workers are expected to engage with children and be responsive to their needs. 

The successful applicant will possess:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Human Services and/or experience working in the DFV sector.
  • Ability to work on call and flexible hours when required.
  • Current (or eligible for) Qld Working with Children Check - Blue Card 
  • Current driver’s licence
