Classroom Mastery is Knowledge Society’s signature, evidence-based program to help teachers, schools and education systems reduce classroom disruption and create safe, calm and ordered classrooms where learning takes priority. The program has been developed by leading classroom management expert, Dr Tim McDonald, to provide teachers, leaders and schools with the professional learning, resources and strategies to create safe, calm classrooms where all students belong and learn.

The role

The Trainer/Coach delivers professional learning workshops to school leaders and teachers, participates in school visits to observe classroom practices and provide coaching feedback to teachers, and supports school leadership teams to implement an internal school coaching team via a train-the-trainer model, for Knowledge Society’s Classroom Mastery program.

The Trainer/Coach works under the direction of our Classroom Mastery Expert and collaboratively with other members of the Knowledge Society team to ensure the program meets client needs and is delivered in accordance with organisational quality standards.

Key responsibilities of the role include:

  • Deliver professional learning workshops to groups of school leaders and teachers, ensuring quality and fidelity of the Classroom Mastery program and instruction materials is maintained at all times.
  • Attend school visits to observe teachers' use of classroom management routines and scripts and provide coaching and feedback to support teachers to improve their practice.
  • Provide instruction and mentoring to school leaders to build their capacity as internal classroom management coaches at their schools.
  • Contribute to continuous improvements and the ongoing development of the Classroom Mastery program delivery and materials.
  • Support the Knowledge Society team in responding to school or system enquiries about the Classroom Mastery program.

About you

The Trainer/Coach - Classroom Mastery role requires an individual who possesses a broad range of skills, knowledge and experience. To be successful in this role you will have:

  • A Master’s degree or equivalent qualifications in education, teaching, or other relevant area.
  • At least five (5) years of experience working in a teaching or school leadership role, preferably in multiple teaching contexts.
  • Strong facilitation skills and the ability to present professional learning workshops with confidence and high energy.
  • Demonstrated understanding of quality teaching practice and the nuances of classroom learning, including classroom management strategies that help to create calm, orderly classroom environments.
  • Knowledge of the Science of Learning and cognitive load theory.
  • Willingness to travel intra and interstate to deliver training and coaching to clients.
