The Kings Cross Community Centre (KCCC / the Centre) was established in 1975.
The governance of the Centre is vested in its Board. The Centre’s Constitution is compliant with the requirements of the NSW Associations Incorporation Act. Currently the Centre has annual revenues of ca $0.5 m.
The Vision of the Centre is to support an inclusive and helping community where everyone has the opportunity and support to feel connected.
Its Purpose is the provision of services, support and activities that meet the needs of our diverse community with reliability and care.
KCCC is currently contracted to deliver two government programs:
1. Targeted Earlier Intervention program (TEI) funded by the NSW Department of Communities and Justice (DCJ)
2. Commonwealth Home Support Programme (CHSP) funded by the Commonwealth Department of Health and Aged Care
Aligned with these two programs, but not limited to them, KCCC continues to have a particular focus on providing services to frail, vulnerable and at-risk community members, as well as young people and their families in the local area. A priority for the organisation is to work with individuals and families to provide programs, projects, events and activities that support strengthening the community’s capacity to deal with these issues.
The Centre also operates a busy and successful social enterprise (an Opportunity Shop at the Rex Centre) which generates another revenue stream to support its activities.
Volunteers play a vital role in the Centre’s services and activities, providing further opportunities for participation and social contact for community members.
