Kidsafe ACT (Part of The Child Accident Prevention Foundation of Australia)
ABOUT THE ROLE:
Kidsafe officers are responsible for:
- Fitting and checking the installation of child car seats
- Presenting regular safety talks to groups up to 25 people in person and online
- Selling and hiring child car seats and safety products
- Cleaning car seats and covers
- Providing information and advice to customers
- Attend mobile appointments, checking-days, expos and fetes off-site throughout the community
- Answering and returning phone calls, responding to emails, filing and other general office tasks when required
Personal Attributes
Ideal candidates will have:
- Capability to work in a challenging, physically demanding and heavy duty role involving:
- Manual labour
- Heavy lifting and carrying
- Leaning, crouching and climbing into vehicles of all shapes and sizes
- Willingness and ability to present regular talks to groups of up to 25 people, in person and online
- The ability to work unsupervised once fully trained
- Confidence to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment
- Competence to prioritise tasks
- Flexibility and initiative to switch from one task to another quickly
- Clear and accurate verbal and written communication skills
- Capacity to learn new skills and information quickly
- Hold a current driver's licence and own vehicle
Qualifications
No previous experience needed, Kidsafe ACT will provide training in child injury prevention and installation of car seats.
Working Conditions
Kidsafe Officers spend a large amount of time outside in all types of weather and are required to fit child car seats in rain, hail, or shine. There may be times when masks are required to be worn while working.
Employment Details
Two Part-time positions available:
- 2 and 3 days per week with varied hours between 8:00am and 5:30pm
- 1 or 2 Saturdays per month when required
- 6 month probationary period
Based at the Kidsafe Centre in Pearce. Some work at Mobile Services, parent groups and displays.
Kidsafe Officers work both independently and as part of a small team with limited resources. Child safety is a serious business but we also pride ourselves on having a sense of humour and making Kidsafe a safe, friendly place to work.
