Located on Noongar country, Karla Kuliny Aboriginal Corporation is an Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisation committed to fostering positive change in support and service delivery for Aboriginal children, young people, families, and communities.
Karla Kuliny embodies a culturally robust, child-centered, and trauma-informed approach to addressing the multifaceted challenges faced by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children, youth, and families. Our focus areas encompass child protection, out-of-home care, and youth justice.
At Karla Kuliny, we recognise the vital role of culture in well-being and are deeply attuned to the systemic gaps in responses to intergenerational trauma. Our services extend to providing out-of-home care for foster children in Perth Metro and the Off and Racing Youth Service program, actively engaging in transformative initiatives for family support and youth wellbeing.
Karla Kuliny will now also deliver the Home Stretch Program in partnership with the Department of Communities. Home Stretch provides young people leaving Out-of-Home-Care with the option to continue to receive support up until the age of 21. The Home Stretch model was co-designed with young people with lived experience of transitioning from care, with a particular focus on the needs of young Aboriginal people and their families.
Karla Kuliny is seeking three full-time Transition Coach’s within the Home Stretch Program. In this role you will provide one to one support, advice, and service coordination for young people transitioning from Out-of-Home-Care. Transition Coach’s will make a difference in the lives of young people by offering an extension of support and resources to the age of 21 years.
Our Transition Coach’s will provide guidance and support to young people in the program, supporting them to strengthen and maintain their connections to culture, country, family, and community. In this role, you will develop young people's natural networks, ensuring they have a strong support system around them.
You'll support young people by brokering access to essential financial resources and supports through the Home Stretch WA service, offering a reliable safety net to young people in the program. You will provide young people with tailored supports utilising a culturally safe and strengths-based approach. This role will work in close collaboration with the Department of Communities’ Child Protection staff, foster families, carers, and the young person’s kin and community.
We are looking for a Transition Coach whose approach is trauma informed and culturally secure. Karla Kuliny has three full-time opportunities available for an initial two-year contract. These roles will be based in East Perth.
Please note, this is an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander-identified position.
