About the role
The role of Behaviour Support Practitioner is to provide personal-centred support to participants of the NDIA, with the aim of reducing and eliminating the use of restrictive practice. The Behaviour Support Practitioner will be responsible for;
- Completing Functional Behaviour Assessments,
- Creating Comprehensive Behaviour Support Plans,
- With assistance, lodging plans containing restrictive practices to the NDIS Commission,
- Ensuring the Positive Behaviour (PBS) Capability Framework as outlined by the NDIA is met,
- Evaluate the effectiveness of Behaviour Support Plans and complete of annual reviews of behaviour support plans,
- Provide information to genU Ability staff about positive behaviour strategies and the use of restrictive practices;
- Assist staff, NDIS Participants, their families and other decision-makers to understand the NDIS Commission’s behaviour support function.
About You
To be successful in this role it is a requirement that you have:
- Relevant degree in the Human Services field with relevant experience and registration with the associated regulatory body;
- Proven experience working with people with disability and/or mental illness;
- An understanding of the NDIS commission, including the NDIS restrictive Practices and Behaviour Support Rules 2018;
- Understanding of behaviour support as defined by the NDIS commission; including evidence-informed, person-centred practices;
- Understanding of restrictive intervention as defined by the NDIS commission;
- Understanding of Functional Behaviour Assessments, Behaviour Support Plans and Person-centred planning;
- An NDIS Worker Screening Check clearance.
