ABOUT THE POSITION

We are seeking a number of purpose-driven Support Workers to join us in casual roles. We are looking for people whose values are aligned with ours – Inclusion, Connection and Resilience.

Our Support Worker roles require empathetic people to provide support in-home and to access the community for a variety of clients. Our customers are located on the south-side of Brisbane which includes suburbs south of the Brisbane River, in the Logan and Redlands areas, as well as out towards Ipswich.

Key responsibilities

  • Providing support that enables and empowers people to live quality lifestyles and participate in activities that are meaningful to them.
  • Assist people to achieve their identified goals and develop new skills.
  • Assist people to complete household tasks alongside them which may include meal preparation, cleaning and laundry. Guiding and supporting the individual to learn and do this themselves wherever possible.
  • Actively assist people to develop and maintain networks and connections in their community.
  • Actively offer individuals the opportunity to make informed decisions and choices.
  • Protect the privacy and dignity of all individuals including colleagues and people supported.
  • Work as a member of a team around the individual, communicating important information to colleagues as required.
  • Assisting individuals to access the community to complete their shopping, do their banking or attend appointments.
  • Assist individuals to use public transport, or provide transport if part of their support arrangements.
  • Provide assistance with personal care, including personal hygiene, grooming and mealtime assistance.
  • You may be required to carry out other duties as directed that are commensurate with the skills and competencies of the classification level.

ABOUT YOU

The ideal applicants will be supportive, empowering and motivating. We are looking for people that have an understanding of the recovery model, appreciative inquiry and trauma-informed care. Experience in mental health and/or disability support as well as familiarity with complex and challenging behaviours is ideal.

Key requirements include:

  • Successfully completing and maintaining an NDIS Worker Screening Check clearance 
  • Relevant qualification (Certificate III in Individual Support, Certificate IV in Mental Health or equivalent) and/or experience supporting people living with a disability or mental health challenges is highly beneficial.
  • Experience or a qualification in personal care is beneficial although not a requirement.
  • Flexibility in working availability.
  • Demonstrated ability to submit notes and reports through online systems.
  • Ability to communicate across diverse groups of people, both verbally and in writing.
  • Knowledge of the local community or the ability to acquire this.
  • High level of computer literacy.
  • A ‘smart’ mobile phone with internet data.
  • Current Queensland Drivers Licence – classification P2 or Open.
  • Access to a car suitable to transport customers with appropriate level of motor vehicle insurance which includes Comprehensive Insurance and Third-Party property.
