ABOUT YOUR ORGANISATION

Kara Family Violence Service (Kara FVS) is a specialist family violence service providing support to victim survivors of family violence in refuge, transitional housing and in the community. Kara FVS has been established in the eastern suburbs of Melbourne for over 45 years. We are a small, friendly team that values collaboration, humour and the provision of flexible, client centred support.

ABOUT THE ROLE

We are looking for an experienced Operational Manager who can provide leadership and guidance and ensure the day-to-day smooth operational management of Kara Family Violence Service for staff and clients, as well as proven capability in supporting the execution of the organisation’s strategic plan. This is a newly created position due to the expansion of Kara FVS and the recent implementation of a new operating model, and as such there may be some refinement of duties as the organisation evolves.

Working closely with the CEO and Team Leader, the Operational Manager will have a varied role that includes; attendance at meetings, implementation of the Business and Strategic plans, oversight and approval of delegated budgets, management of risk, identification and development of policies and processes and the provision of quality services to clients.

ABOUT YOU

The ideal candidate will be:

  • Tertiary qualified in Social Work, Human Services, Community Development, Business or other related discipline and have a minimum of 5 years experience in a senior management position, preferably within the family violence or related sector.
  • Collaborative, hands on and flexible with a solid understanding of the family violence sector and demonstrated experience at an operational level in a human services or not for profit organisation.
  • Excellent time management and attention to detail, ensuring adherence to standards, policies, risk management and OH&S processes including the equitable distribution of funding and physical resources.
  • Proven leadership skills in the management and supervision of teams. This includes the recruitment, selection, training and maintenance of staffing levels and human resource requirements.
  • Highly-developed communication and interpersonal skills you will work and communicate effectively with staff, clients and other agencies and professionals.
  • Demonstrated experience in problem solving and analytical skills.
