The role:
An exciting opportunity exists for experienced Behaviour Support Practitioners to join one of Victoria’s leading NDIS providers. Working as part of a multi-disciplinary team, the purpose of the role is to provide positive behaviour support for NDIS Participants with an intellectual or cognitive disability, who can exhibit severely challenging behaviours.
We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Behaviour Support Practitioner Provisional or Registered Psychologist to join our team working within metropolitan Melbourne and surrounds. Key areas will include:
- Expert consultation and provision of positive behavioural support services to people with a disability and their service providers/families, in line with an individual’s NDIS plan and goals.
- The development of positive behaviour support plans which can include at times the use of restrictive practices.
- Responsibility for the assessment, planning, monitoring and review of client outcomes, including training of the individual with a disability, their support staff and family members.
- Conducting psychological and related assessments and interventions required under the NDIS and workers compensation schemes (where applicable).
- Business development and liaising with other service providers to achieve positive client outcomes.
- Provide evidence-based treatment and clinical knowledge, expertise and support to individuals and their key support network.
Requirements:
- Relevant tertiary qualifications in: Psychology, Social Sciences, Speech Pathology, Occupational Therapy, Behavioural Sciences or a similar field (required).
- AHPRA registered Psychologist, professional registration for each discipline.
- Experience working with individuals with Autism Spectrum disorder, Intellectual Disabilities and other complex diagnoses (desirable).
- Experience using a wide variety of Psychological/Behaviour assessments (desirable).
- Comprehensive understanding of the requirements needed to deliver complex person-centred behaviour support to people with disabilities (required).
- Positive Behaviour Support experience (desirable).
- Skilled and experienced in writing high-quality reports (required).
- Understanding of restrictive practices and writing interim and comprehensive reports under current NDIS guidelines (required).
- Counselling experience using CBT, DBT, person-centred and trauma-informed approaches (desirable).
- Experience working in an environment with KPIs/targets (desirable).
- Car and license (required).
- A current National Police Clearance and Working with Children Check (WWCC) or willingness to obtain one prior to commencement (required).
