About the program

Navigator is a program funded by state government which aims to support disengaged learners aged 12 to 17 years old to re-engage with an education or training pathway.

Jesuit Social Services is delivering Navigator in the North Eastern Melbourne area in partnership with the Victorian Aboriginal Child Care Agency and will be working closely with local schools and services and the regional Department of Education and Training office.

About the role

An exciting opportunity exists for a suitably experienced and qualified individual to take on a Senior Practitioner role in a full time capacity with this initiative.

Key responsibilities include:

• Support and supervision to a small team of case workers
• Providing individually tailored support to disengaged learners within the context of their families
• Foster strong and positive relationships with stakeholders across a range of sectors

The Navigator North Eastern team will be based in Brunswick with a likely move to new offices in North Eastern Melbourne in 2021.

A base salary of $82,774 per annum, plus superannuation and salary packaging is offered, together with ongoing professional and career development.

Candidate requirements

To be successful in the role you will have:

• Knowledge providing appropriate interventions, case management, intensive support, crisis intervention and assertive outreach to support children, young people and families from vulnerable communities
• Building and managing relationships with a diversity of stakeholders
• Demonstrated experience supporting, mentoring and managing staff
• Capacity to work with a high degree of cultural competency and understanding culturally appropriate service delivery
