Vacro is an independent non-profit organisation working with people caught in the criminal justice system and their families. Founded in 1872, we are Victoria’s oldest and only specialised criminal justice reintegration service. We provide reintegration, family, and employment support that enables people to create new beginnings for themselves and their families.

The Opportunity

The ReConnect Program is part of the Corrections Victoria Reintegration Pathway and is a voluntary outreach program that supports people to settle back into their communities after being released from prison. The objective of this program is to provide a tailored and dynamic approach to support people to return to community life and access services. This position will report to the ReConnect Regional Manager and shall perform case management and planning activities with participants prior to, during and after release from custody.

This position is a community-based outreach role which involves travel around the state, with a focus on the Barwon South West, Loddon Mallee, and Grampians regions. This role also includes entry into prisons across the state to complete pre-release meetings with participants.

To be Successful

You will require the following skills and experience:

  • Tertiary qualifications in social work, psychology, human services or other relevant field.
  • Excellent case planning and management skills.
  • Experience working with participants with complex needs particularly those who have been in contact with the criminal justice system.
  • Ability to co-design and develop case plans alongside with participants.
  • Ability to record activities accurately and promptly in databases, including writing of case notes.
  • Well-developed interpersonal skills and time management skills.
  • Sound level of MS Office (including Teams), database and internet skills.
  • A valid driver's license and national police background check are mandatory for this position.
