About the role

The Work Health Safety Manager position provides a best practice and strategic WHS approach to JCV’s Executive and line managers to deliver effective WHS management and manage risk. The key focus for the role centres around identifying, monitoring and addressing critical risks to develop and implement a WHS framework that supports and underpins day to day activities across JCV’s business.

What you will do

• Ensure a safe working environment for all stakeholders in JCV
• Ensure Occupational Health and Safety Management Systems are complied with and all requirements met across JCV
• Lead the establishment and maintenance of a framework for health, safety and security
• Oversee JCV’s EAP program and staff facilities
• Ensure safe practices around machinery, equipment and materials; premises, including the safety of entrances and exits; systems of work (specifically manual handling, psychological impacts, slips and trips); the work environment
• Conduct audits in JCV facilities to ensure compliance with policies and procedures. Carry out audits on sub-contractors to ensure compliance. Liaise with accreditation auditors and arrange and attend all third party audits
• Manage and respond to any incident or accident and follow legislative requirements for notifying and cooperating with WHS regulators
• Report risks through the WHS Committee to the Quality Performance Sub Committee of the Board

You will bring

• Degree in OHS, with extensive working knowledge of OHS standards, Acts and legislation
• Significant experience in a multi-site WHS leadership role, ideally gained in brownfields health sites
• Excellent understanding of best practice WHS management practices and principles
• Strong advisory, training, stakeholder management and coaching skills
• Exposure to insurers, medical and rehabilitation suppliers
• Expertise in emergency management
• Experience in the NFP; health care and or related industry
• Proven ability to work in a complex multidisciplinary organisation
• Experience working autonomously
