Role Purpose:

The primary purpose of the role of Head of Fundraising is to develop and execute the fundraising strategy with a goal to significantly increase the value, diversity, and sustainability of fundraising income generated from key JDRF relationships through current/new campaigns and events and new income initiatives.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Develop the JDRF Fundraising strategy in collaboration with the CEO and COO and execution of the strategy to develop a pathway for charitable revenue growth.
  • Increase the gross and net fundraising capacity of JDRF through leadership of a combined team of National Fundraisers and Philanthropy Executives nationally leveraging existing campaigns and developing new ones.
  • Support, guide, monitor and review the delivery of these JDRF campaigns, planning for the growth of key accounts across all campaigns as well as developing campaign -specific management and growth plans.
  • Develop and manage the Fundraising revenue and cost budget to ensure adequate resourcing to meet revenue targets while maintaining costs.
  • Develop and apply national frameworks for overall resource allocation across events and relationships, longer-term campaign growth, and evidence-based evaluation of campaign effectiveness and efficiency
  • Identify, plan, trial, and evaluate new income generating streams and events building new capabilities to compliment and integrate with existingcapabilities with a view to increasing overall net income and return on investment by JDRF.
  • Develop and lead theFundraising Team, including integrating Team activities into other key programs and areas of the organisation such as marketing, communications, donor development, community engagement, and JDRF International activities.
  • Build out and develop further a consistent national capability in the cultivation and relationship management of major donors, corporate and industry partners and trusts and foundations to deliver both revenue and other value add products of partnerships
  • Lead and drive business and cultural change as new initiatives are deployed and capabilities built
  • Relationship management of significant key accounts and acquisition of new accounts to include stewardship of Board related networks.
  • Build the capacity and impact of JDRF’s fundraising initiatives through effective volunteer involvement in partnership with staff
  • Contribute to the development of JDRF organisational direction, strategy, operating plans and budgets
  • Leverage personal networks to deliver strong business outcomes for JDRF

This individual will be responsible for managing a national team with a presence in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Adelaide and Perth.

Competencies, Skills & Experience:

This is a key leadership and income generation role at JDRF and as such requires planning and execution skills, the ability to manage multiple projects concurrently, and strong team leadership capability.

The role will work independently but will have collaboration with the COO and the CEO and requires a strong background engaging and influencing stakeholders at all levels.

As such the individual should have, at a minimum, the following skills:

  • Experience in sales, relationship management and account management roles with both revenue and relationship responsibilities and/or event delivery.
  • Ability to manage a P&L and work across the organisation to deliver synergies and optimise overall contribution to Mission
  • Experience in strategic planning with a proven history of developing a growth plan in an income generating environment, selling it internally, developing frameworks for its implementation, and leading a team to successfully execute it.
  • A proven ability to lead and manage a geographically diverse team, including leading and coaching the growth of staff in line with organisational requirements
  • The ability to identify build and evaluate business cases for new opportunities for growth, and to formally analyse, review and improve the efficiency and return on investment of existing programs, campaigns, and relationships
