We now have an exciting opportunity for an established researcher to join our vibrant team of professionals in the Indigenous Education and Research Centre. This is a full-time and continuing opportunity, based at either of our beautiful tropical campuses in North Queensland: Cairns Nguma-bada campus or Townsville Bebegu Yumba campus. Remote work from any location within Australia will also be considered. Remuneration is at Academic Level D/E: $142,460 - $182,369 per annum plus superannuation. Level of appointment and remuneration will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.

WHAT YOU CAN ACCOMPLISH IN THE ROLE

Supporting James Cook University’s (JCU) research expertise in Australian Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander knowledges and teaching subjects both within the Centre and across the University, you’ll work closely with the Head of Indigenous Teaching Programs, Deputy Vice Chancellor - Indigenous Education and Strategy, and the Associate Deans to lead research activities, promote cultural competency and enhance research capability across the University.

WHAT YOU WILL BRING TO THE ROLE

With a relevant doctoral qualification or equivalent accreditation and standing, you demonstrate scholarly and professional achievement in relation to Australian Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander knowledges and Indigenous studies. You have a proven research track record with skills and experience in university postgraduate supervision, research education and training, and a demonstrated ability to engage with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and communities. You possess high-level communication skills and are flexible and constructive in your approach to work design and procedures.
