About Us

The Institute for Urban Indigenous Health (IUIH) leads the development, planning and delivery of comprehensive primary health care for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people living in South East Queensland.

The Quality and Innovation team provides clinical oversight and support t IUIH member services and is responsible for the service development and delivery of urban Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health and family wellbeing care. This diverse team includes IUIH Data and Research, Logistics, Oral Health, Pharmacy, Policy, Social Health, and Regional Clinical Support.

About the Role

As a Nurse Reliever in our IUIH and Member Services clinic, you will be providing specialist community and primary health nursing services that focus on the prevention, early detection and management of health within our Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people across the SEQ region.

  • Conduct initial medical engagement including, triage assessments, taking of medical history/detail, assignment of patient, completion of preliminary procedures
  • Deliver patient treatments and care to under the direction of the doctor
  • Assist families transition and encourage continued  engagement with their local AMS
  • Conduct Adult Health checks and immunisations as requested by the doctor
  • Provide health education and promotion on a one to one basis to all the services clients

About You

  •  Minimum qualification of Diploma of Nursing with a preference of Bachelor of Nursing
  •  Current AHPRA Registration
  • Ability to communicate, engage effectively and work together with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
  • Previous experience using patient information systems (e.g. MMEX)
  • Current C Class Drivers Licence (QLD)
  • Current CPR

Desirable, but not mandatory:

  •  Previous experience working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and /or communities
