Better Health Network Alcohol and Other Drugs (AOD) team has an exciting opportunity for a passionate and driven AOD Counsellor to join our multidisciplinary community-based health service.
We are looking for a vibrant and passionate AOD Counsellor to support and enhance our team in a permanent full-time role, Monday to Friday, 8.30am - 4.36pm (or 8:30am - 5pm with monthly ADO), with no late nights or weekend work required.
Working as a member of the AOD team, this position will provide high-quality, effective, and efficient counselling services. This includes assessment, a range of interventions, counselling for long term recovery focusing on problematic substance abuse as well as promoting health, wellbeing, and social connectedness to achieve client goals and outcomes.
BHN provides support and mentoring and can support upskilling, where required, to bridge gaps in your knowledge. Our team has a focus in delivering support for local community, making a real difference to our clients and families lives.
The AOD Counselling team are part of a larger program of AOD services including Intake, Care Recovery Coordination, Non-Residential Withdrawal, Family Counselling, Centre Based Counselling and Outreach counselling, Harm Reduction and Overdose Prevention programs.
We also work closely with multidisciplinary allied health teams, GP practices, Mental Health programs, and Social Supports to ensure clients, carers and families are well supported in the community.
The role will be based at our Parkdale, Chelsea, and Clarinda clinics; locally the AOD team consists of 3 other AOD Counsellors and 1 Non-Residential Withdrawal Nurse. The team will work alongside a team of like-minded clinicians passionate about local and holistic support for residents in our community. Located in bayside close to the beach, lunchtimes easily accommodated, or lunch & good coffee at one of the many local cafes. The team is highly skilled and supportive, therefore clinicians looking to move into a new area will be assisted and well supported in the transition. Those with established experience will be encouraged to share their knowledge and experience.
