ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES
The Senior Technical Advisor is responsible for key aspects of the technical development and maintenance of existing and new rating tools for the IS Rating Scheme including engaging with and reflecting industry feedback.
This includes ensuring that our processes and outputs are of high quality, well documented, researched and in line with our procedures and requirements.
The Senior Technical Advisor supports the Associate Technical Director, and IS Ratings team with the Technical projects, Technical investigations, and Technical Workplan items.
Strategic Direction:
- Contribute to the overall IS Rating Scheme Strategy.
- Lead changes and adjustments to the IS Rating Scheme to ensure it remains accessible, scalable and financially sustainable.
- Stay current with relevant sustainability topics, infrastructure sustainability developments and industry trends
Business Management:
- Support the achievement of annual business plan and budget for aspects of the Technical business function.
- This includes regularly reporting (to Associate Technical Director & Director) on performance targets and providing accurate monthly forecasts on progress against specific Technical project deadlines.
- Operationally, this includes coordinating, planning, implementing, tracking and reporting specific projects.
Technical Project Management:
- Undertake and lead Technical investigations and specific Technical projects. This includes research, stakeholder engagement, analysis, documented outputs and recommendations (including QA checks) in line with the ISC's Continuous Improvement process.
Strategic Alignment:
- Work collaboratively across the ISC business units to integrate and leverage all ISC offerings to deliver on the Council’s purpose (e.g. Training, Marketing and Advocacy)
Team Leadership:
- Contribute to a positive culture of accountability within the Technical team.
- Support the development of the IS Technical Officers/Data Analysts and broader team
- Invest in personal professional development and growth supporting individual career aspirations and organisational objectives.
Market Leadership and Engagement
- Relationship Development - Foster and maintain positive relationships with technical working groups, industry stakeholder groups and other identified parties.
- Market Representation - Represent the ISC through local and national networks, events, conferences, forums and engaging with other key market participants.
- Stakeholder Satisfaction and Engagement - Work with Associate Technical Director to develop strategies to engage with current and future Technical stakeholders and relevant rating partners to achieve annual KPIs relating to stakeholder satisfaction.
- Assist in overseeing the governance and management of ISCs technical structures including committees and working groups.
Governance
- Continuous improvement – systems, processes and practices:
- Review and enhance systems, processes and practices that ensure effective, optimised and technically robust delivery.
- Assist in ensuring there are systems and practices in place to keep abreast of project feedback, market developments and technical advances relevant to priority sectors and regions.
Continuous improvement – rating products and tools:
- Continuously review and enhance IS rating products and tools that ensure effective sustainability outcomes and value to rating partners.
- Manage delivery of the specific technical workplan as agreed annually with the Associate Technical Director, and ISC Executive.
- Work with Associate Technical Director to ensure there are systems and practices in place to capture and track continuous improvement feedback from stakeholders and maintain the technical integrity and leadership of the Rating Scheme relevant to priority sectors and regions and the sustainability agenda.
