About the role

If so, you can do all of that as our Conservation Visitor Ranger. As part of the Environment and Sustainability Education and Awareness team in the role you will engage visitors in Council’s conservation estates and reserves providing positive nature base recreation experiences.

Some of your key responsibilities will include:

  • Deliver visitor experiences and assist in organising and running nature-based recreation activities, guided walks, and interpretative talks.
  • Support biodiversity and habitat improvement programs and be involved in the planning, management and activation of conservation estates and reserves.
  • Provide input into conservation works projects and notification of maintenance needs.
  • Report major trail defects and upgrade requirements, and manage small projects to deliver minor improvements to trail networks.
  • Identify emerging issues and opportunities for natural area management and nature-based recreation, including alignment with industry standards in track design, construction, maintenance and activity management.
  • Collect, monitor and interpret visitation data, user behaviour and impacts of nature-based recreation on visitor infrastructure and conservation values.

About you

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • Tertiary qualification in Outdoor Recreation, Environmental Management, Natural Area Management, Natural Resource Management or similar discipline and/or substantial experience to carry out the range of duties required.
  • Current Queensland “C” class driver’s licence.
  • Current Blue Card.
  • Ability to work effectively with people of all ages and fitness levels and to engage visitors and volunteers in nature-based recreation activities.
  • Knowledge of the principles of nature-based recreation and natural area management.

A pre-employment medical will be required for this role.

This is a permanent full-time position, level 3-5 with a salary between $77,104 - $97,189 plus superannuation of up to 12.5%.
