ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

The Practice Specialist - Child and Youth will drive excellence in practice across services relevant to children and young people at Interrelate. You will be the subject matter expert and be responsible for guiding the development and implementation of innovative services that reflect best practice and the National Principles for Child Safe Organisations to facilitate optimal client outcomes. The role will collaborate with other leaders to support and enhance staff knowledge and continuous improvement in the organisation.

Key Responsibilities include, however not limited to:

  • Performing the role of subject matter expert on child and youth related services within Interrelate, including but not limited to Children's Contact Services, (CSS) Family Mental Health Support Services (FMHSS), and any other services that Interrelate offers
  • Lead Interrelate's commitment to the National Principles for Child Safe Organisations
  • Ensuring that all children and youth services for First Nations clients and communities reflect appropriate cultural awareness.
  • Considering the specific needs of children and youth who identify as LGBTIQ+ or whose families are in the LGBTIQ+ community; and/or children and youth with disabilities; and/or from a culturally and linguistically diverse background.
  • Identifying opportunities for innovation, continuous improvement and social impact relevant to children and youth
  • Contributing to research and sector development for children and youth to ensure that Interrelate remains current, responsive and cutting edge
  • Providing high level advice to all Interrelate staff regarding practice and service developments for child-inclusive practice
  • Working collaboratively across Interrelate regions with Practice Leads and staff to ensure service excellence and high-quality client outcomes
  • Applying the principles of Human Centred Design to develop products and services
  • Providing clinical expertise and professional support to practitioners and Practice Leads, ensuring good clinical governance and quality assurance
  • Networking with a range of external stakeholders including government, legal professionals, the corporate and the non-for-profit sector
  • Supporting business growth through contributing to tenders and grant applications

ABOUT YOU

  • Degree/post-graduate qualifications in social science, social work, community services, counselling or psychology, or a related discipline. (A masters in one of the qualifications would be highly desirable)
  • Extensive experience and recency in clinical practice, in particular mental health and Children's Contact Services
  • Experience providing high quality clinical supervision
  • Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills with high emotional intelligence
  • Experience in implementing organisational change and training staff in new clinical practice models
  • Networking and advocacy experience
  • Sound understanding of the sector and current research
  • Good working knowledge of human centred design principles and their application in the human services field
  • Ability to promote Interrelate's child and youth services with authority and credibility across government and outside of government
