ABOUT THE ROLE:

This is a pivotal hands-on role involved in driving financial excellence and requires a proactive mindset with operational expertise and an appetite for change and improvement.

Your responsibilities will span across various areas, including ensuring compliance on all financial controls, quarterly and monthly reporting, tax compliance, strategic planning, forecasting and budget preparation.

We are seeking a strong confident professional who is an empowering leader and collaborator who can lead the Finance function with confidence while fostering strong business partnerships across the organisation.
Reporting to the Head of Corporate Services and working with various key stakeholders like the CEO and senior management, you will be providing insights and guidance to support critical business decisions, facilitate change and strengthen financial processes.

The role demands an experienced professional who is able to navigate the complexities that come with financial management of multiple Government funded contracts, management of payroll covering a breadth of services covered under the SCHADS Award, and having the soft skills to business partner with leaders across the organisation and empower your team to be their best.

ABOUT YOU:

You will be a trusted advisor and contributor who is self-motivated with a strategic mindset who has excellent financial, analytical and stakeholder management skills. In this people focused hands-on role, you will have excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and senior management. You have intermediate to advanced technical and software skills.

You will have experience in, and working knowledge of payroll, budget preparation and execution, tendering processes and preparation of financial reporting, along with strong problem-solving abilities, attention to detail, and ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines.

Key duties include:

  • Ensure the accuracy and completeness of all financial reporting, including statutory accounts and management reports.
  • Manage the organisation’s statutory taxation obligations, including GST, BAS, PAYG, FBT and Workers Compensation Returns with responsibility for preparation and lodgement.
  • Preparation of board reporting packs, grant funding reconciliations and acquittal submissions and the annual budget, including any periodic budget reviews.
  • In conjunction with the Head of Corporate Services, collaborate, design, implement and review finance systems, and procedures to ensure continuous improvement and contemporary relevant practices.
  • Manage the organisation’s cash flows within available facilities and providing appropriate recommendations to the Head of Corporate Services.
  • Lead, train and manage a team of Finance/Accounting staff including; Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Payroll and the Resourcing and Purchasing Officer.
  • Analyse revenue, profit margins, and expenses to inform cost management strategies.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, contributing to the organisation’s strategic objectives.

ROLE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, with CA or CPA certification
  • Minimum of 10 years’ experience in Accounting roles, with exposure to payroll. Experience working in organisations of similar size, scope and complexity
  • Experience in Not-for-profit sector, or experience working within a community-based organisation (highly desirable)
  • Experience with Financial Accounting Software, Payroll Systems and Client Management Systems (ideally Microsoft Business Central, Access Micropay, Xero and Microsoft Dynamics)
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication abilities, with a collaborative approach.
  • Proven leadership skills to manage and develop a team.
  • Ability to facilitate financial strategies to propel efficiency and profitability.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving skills, attention to detail and passion for continuous improvement.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities.
