This is an exciting opportunity for someone who is experienced in providing case work, therapeutic group work and community support work. Seeking an individual who is passionate about making a difference in the lives of young people and their families to join our Connect team on the Central Coast.

ABOUT THE ROLE:

Our Central Coast Connect team are looking for a dedicated and experienced Child, Youth and Family Workers for our Family Mental Health Support Service program (Connect). The Connect Program assists children and young people, with emerging mental health issues, and their families, to improve their mental health outcomes later in life.

You will be providing a range of high-quality case work, therapeutic group work and community development services to children, young people and their families who are at risk of, and affected by, mental illness.

The position will be based out of various outreach locations in Lake Macquarie. The successful candidate will provide home and community visits to clients, including local primary and high schools.

The use of your own personal vehicle will also be required if a pool car is not available. All kilometres will be reimbursed as per the enterprise agreement when using your own personal vehicle.

This is a Fixed-term position until 30 June 2026, working 30 hours per week, with the flexibility to negotiate your working days and hours between Monday - Friday, 8am - 8pm. Some weekend work may also be required to attend community events from time to time.

The classification of this position in reference to the SCHADS award, is Level 5.

KEY ROLE REQUIREMENTS:

  1. Bachelor's degree in social work, community services and/or welfare, psychology, counselling or related discipline
  2. Experience working with and understanding of mental illness; having an understanding of the impact that emerging mental illness can have on a person's life, their families and children (particularly people with complex needs and high levels of disadvantage), and a demonstrated understanding of client centred work and recovery oriented practice in a mental health framework
  3. Experience working with children, young people and families in a community welfare/ development/ case work role, whilst maintaining a child/ young person focused approach
  4. Case management experience, with the ability to coordinate flexible service delivery working within an individualised case management or care coordination framework
  5. Experience delivering therapeutic and educational group work programs to children, young people, parents and their families
  6. Current NSW Drivers Licence and access to a reliable vehicle
