Due to unexpected circumstances, Indooroopilly Uniting Church’s Asylum Seeker and Refugee Support Hub is re-advertising for a part-time Hub Coordinator to join the team. The Hub, in Brisbane’s western suburbs, has been operating since 2015. This unique Hub is a place of welcome, hospitality and social engagement. The Hub is open on Thursday afternoon and the first and third Saturday afternoon each month.
IUC Hub is part of the Asylum Seeker and Refugee Assistance (ASRA) program coordinated by Communify Qld. ASRA is a collaboration of seven partner agencies delivering services directly to a group of vulnerable people across three Hub locations. This unique and dynamic role will suit someone who is passionate about collective action and working in a consortium program model.
This role is responsible for coordinating the work of a team of enthusiastic and passionate volunteers at IUC Hub who walk alongside people from across SE Queensland on their journey to seek safety and protection. The work includes clerical and administrative form filling assistance, together with advocacy and referral to ASRA and external specialist services, when required. The position will be provided with training and support.
IUC Hub also delivers welfare support to this community through the distribution of food and emergency relief vouchers. This role works closely with the Hub Welfare Coordinator to deliver this holistic and inclusive service.
