Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) translates to Doctors without Borders. They are an international, independent, medical humanitarian organisation that delivers emergency aid to people affected by conflict, epidemics, disasters or exclusion from healthcare.

Their teams are made up of tens of thousands of health professionals, logistic and programmatic support staff - bound together by their charter. Their actions are guided by medical ethics and the principles of impartiality, independence and neutrality. They are a non-profit, self-governed, member-based organisation.

The Médecins Sans Frontières Australia office was set up in 1994. Every year around two hundred Australians and New Zealanders are sent to MSF projects by Médecins Sans Frontières Australia.
