Impact of the opportunity

Make-A-Wish Australia is searching for a strategic Fundraising & Signature Events Manager to lead the planning, development and implementation of major fundraising campaigns and signature events on a national scale to meet ambitious fundraising targets.

The Fundraising & Signature Events Manager will lead a team to grow, diversify and develop new and varied high-value events and campaigns that include signature events, community events and volunteer events, and they will project manage the execution of each activity and event to ensure excellence in operational delivery and revenue generation.

Responsibilities:

  • Strategic development and implementation of all fundraising campaigns and events across varied fundraising programs and initiatives
  • Lead the ideation, research, and concept testing for new fundraising events and campaigns across multiple targeted donor groups
  • Manage planning, logistics, resourcing, budgeting, and reporting for major all fundraising events
  • Oversee key stakeholder engagement, which will include liaising with donors, fundraisers, partners, agencies, and Ambassadors, providing a high touch commitment to all relationships
  • Oversee the development and implementation of donor journey frameworks and stewardship strategies to enhance engagement and conversion rates
  • Lead and inspire a high performing team, and promote a positive and collaborative culture
  • Collaborate with all internal teams, including the marketing team for the successful development of digital marketing campaigns and promotional materials, and the wider fundraising team to secure sponsorship and Gift In Kind support
  • Conduct post-event evaluations, capturing data and insights to make data driven decisions that inform future campaigns
  • A commitment to meet fundraising goals that directly impact the lives of sick kids to realise that despite their situation anything is possible

Skills and Experience

  • Proven success in a similar role leading and delivering the full cycle of high valued fundraising events and campaign initiatives, from strategic planning through to implementation and post event and campaign reporting
  • Experience developing and implementing major fundraising events and campaigns at a high level that significantly contribute to fundraising outcomes
  • Exceptional levels of collaboration with the ability to work closely with cross-functional internal teams, external agencies, donors, and stakeholders to ensure the successful execution of events, driving revenue generation and enhancing brand visibility
  • Demonstrated success leading and inspiring team to meet fundraising goals, fostering a positive and collaborative work environment
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written in order to effectively communicate to a wide range of audiences
  • Strong project management skills, including demonstrated ability to plan, implement, review and achieve project goals and objectives
  • Developed high touch relationship management experience, with the ability to work closely with donors while applying high levels of emotional intelligence, tact, compassion, and professionalism
  • Strong financial management skills, including the ability to manage budgets and conduct financial reporting
  • High proficiency levels using CRM systems, with the ability to record comprehensive information and ability to make data driven decisions
  • A genuine interest to make in impact in the lives of the children and families that Make-A-Wish continually support
