Impact you will have in this role

The Individual Giving Manager plays a pivotal role in the strategic growth and innovation of the Individual Giving Program at the Victor Chang Cardiac Research Institute. You will lead the design, execution, and evaluation of multi-channel fundraising appeals and regular giving programs, with a focus on donor acquisition, engagement, retention, and stewardship.

This role is central to diversifying support from individual donors, growing the value and length of their support, and ensuring donors feel connected to the Institute’s groundbreaking work.

In this hands-on position, you’ll collaborate closely with stakeholders across the Institute to develop and execute donor communication strategies and ensure that individual giving is aligned with the Institute’s strategic goals.

You’ll also have the opportunity to lead and mentor the Individual Giving Coordinator to build a high-performing program.

Key Responsibilities

Strategy & Program Development

  • Develop and implement strategies to grow the Individual Giving Program, driving engagement through direct mail, SMS, email, telemarketing, digital and social media.
  • Reporting to the Director of Community Giving & Supporter Experience – work closely on the design, execution, and evaluation of multi-channel fundraising appeals and regular giving programs, with a focus on donor acquisition, engagement, retention, and stewardship.
  • Create, develop, and execute multi-channel fundraising programs that drive revenue from entry and mid-level donors.
  • Lead efforts to acquire, renew, upgrade, acknowledge, and thank individual donors, ensuring donor retention and engagement.

Stakeholder Engagement & Collaboration

  • Collaborate with internal teams, including Marketing, Communications, and Research faculty, to develop and implement donor engagement strategies.
  • Work closely with Planned Giving and Major and Transformational Giving teams to identify leads within the existing donor database and move them along the donor continuum.
  • Collaborate with external agencies in particular on digital campaigns and copywriting.

Data, Reporting & Systems

  • Utilise CRM systems (e.g., Raiser’s Edge NXT) to maintain accurate donor records, track campaign successes, and manage donor communication journeys.
  • Generate and evaluate reports to measure the success of fundraising campaigns and track key performance indicators (KPIs).
  • Collaborate with the Director of Community Giving & Supporter Experience and CAO to forecast, set targets, and track program expenditure and income.

Team Leadership & Management

  • Lead and manage the Individual Giving Coordinator, overseeing their performance and supporting their professional development.

Skills and Experience

You bring:

  • Experience in creating and managing successful multi-channel fundraising appeals and regular giving programs.
  • Proven track record of using digital channels to drive fundraising income and engagement.
  • Expertise in CRM systems (e.g., Raiser’s Edge NXT, Salesforce etc.) and donor databases.
  • Experience with data analysis, reporting, and tracking KPIs.
  • Familiarity with communication automation tools such as Campaign Monitor, Mailchimp, or similar platforms.
  • Ability to create compelling donor communications across email, SMS, social media, telemarketing, and direct mail.
  • Strong project management skills and the ability to work independently and collaboratively to meet deadlines.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • A genuine passion for advancing cardiovascular research and a commitment to the Institute’s values and mission.
